AFrame Digital strongly believes in using only evidence based, well-researched approaches to patient care. If the science is not right, the approach cannot be considered a “best practice” or “standard of care”. In this tradition, AFrame is continuously involved in numerous research projects.
Vinson Hall Retirement Center
AFrame has partnered with Vinson Hall Retirement Community to give residents access to technology that will protect their health and safety, as they enjoy the freedom of movement throughout our community. AFrame's technology, in monitoring the health and
safety of residents, acts as a preventative care program as it can potentially alert staff to more serious problems and allow them to respond faster. An appealing outcome of AFrame's technology is the extension of one's independence, allowing individuals to remain in independent living environments for longer periods of time. AFrame believes that their new technology will be the new standard of care in long term care facilities. Vinson Hall is also collaborating with AFrame Digital, Inc. in leading edge research in gait stability and fall prevention.

Non-Intrusive Post-Battlefield Wellness Management
This project began in 2005 as a SBIR Phase I award from the Defense Advanced Projects Research Agency (DARPA), an agency within the Department of Defense. The project's main goal is to develop mobile, intelligent, cost-effective monitoring and alerting systems for injured warfighters during the rehabilitation phase of their recovery from a battlefield injury. The project has already shown impressive results and is currently in a SBIR Phase II with an additional, optional research program underway. The developments of this project will be brought into the care management system to support improved remote monitoring of residents in outpatient settings.

Non-intrusive Locomotion and Gait Stability Analysis Monitoring System for the Elderly
Falls are a leading cause of injury and death among the elderly population. AFrame's mission is to develop a robust system that can accurately detect a fall and, in fact, prevent falls by alerting gait instability. AFrame has teamed with Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University(Virginia Tech) to develop such a system with funding from the National Institute of Aging (NIA), an institute within the National Institutes of Health (Grant R43AG029721)
